OUR STORY

Umoja Skills Development began in 2002 with the initiative of Liliane Mukidi a holder of a bachelor degree in business & administration and the founder of Umoja for Africa. As a woman who has been through a lot in life, She truly understands the struggle of women in the society. Born in Congo and grew up in Zambia, Liliane has been living in South Africa for nearly 21 years.

Attracted by a beautiful beaded conference, Liliane decided to start a training programme which focuses on skills development for disadvantage and vulnerable people in Africa. With the help of a friend, she received sewing & beading training. She then later went on to train 50 people per year for 10 years and has placed 500 men & women of different background in secure job positions.
